![]() The cast must be a relatively expensive part of the budget compared to other shows.Įxcept the Rachni haven't been alive and living peacefully. There are episodes where it makes sense because there’s a lot more CGI, but like half of the episodes are just a guy in a helmet walking around Earth-like vistas, and the episode with Boba’s return looked like a fan film shot in California half the time. The Mandalorian looks good, but I’m not sure how it’s justifying its budget (reportedly around $15 million an episode) for some episodes. I imagine that for near-realistic CGI like the guy above was talking about in Kingsglaive, the cost (and production time) per episode would skyrocket if the previous CGI Final Fantasy movies are any indication. When adjusting for episode length (TCW has 20 minute episodes versus 40 minutes for The Expanse), their price becomes quite comparable. For comparison, a good-looking sci-fi show like The Expanse can be made for $2-5 million. TCW likely cost somewhere in the range of $1-2 million per episode. For a non-Lucas comparison, Rebels had noticeably lower graphical quality, though it was still decent. ![]() The Clone Wars was one of the most expensive CGI shows ever made, being personally funded by Lucas.
